Join the District 5650 Indoor Ride to End Polio Team!

You've heard about the Ride to End Polio in Tucson and thought it was a great change from participating in BRAN or RAGBRAI, but just couldn't make the trip?  Not to worry!  Last year, about 250 Rotarians, friends and family did the Ride to End Polio Indoors -- in their homes, gyms, or anywhere they could find a stationary bike to ride.

District 5500 invites every Rotary Club and District in the world to participate in the Indoor Ride to End Polio, a ready-made polio fundraiser. It’s easy and fun. Register your team now at this site. Each member of the team will ride a stationary bike for a self-selected number of minutes and will seek donations to PolioPlus in support of the ride. Anyone can ride (Rotarians, Interactors, Rotaractors, friends and family – parents, grandparents, children, grandchildren, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. All funds raised support goals of YOUR club and district. Top fundraising clubs and districts earn worldwide recognition. In 2015, 14 teams from around the world raised almost $100,000 (counting Gates Foundation 2-1 match). Join us Nov 11-18, 2017 and be a part of history. You will soon be able to say you played a part in the eradication of polio from the world, only the second time in history a human disease has ever been eradicated.

LAST YEAR OUR DISTRICT CAME IN 2nd for the Indoor Ride

NEW UPDATES:
  • Each participant in the District 5650 Indoor Team is encouraged to create their own Crowdfunding page at Rotary International's Idea Showcase.  Click here to see the main page, then click on the button in the box "Would you like to personalize this project and help raise money toward it's goal?".  Please use the tag #RotaryDistrict5650IndoorTeam and you are also welcome to use the district logo with your promotions.  Please send the links to your page to Gretchen and she will post them on this page so we can keep track of our District Team goals.

  • You can also ask other people to join our District team!  As well as Rotarians, this includes family members, spouses, grandkids, Rotaractors, Interactors, friends, co-workers.  Just count their totals on your Crowdfunding page, or have another member of your club sponsor them as a group.

  • Many of you have asked, so I am repeating:  According to the rules set up by the Indoor El Tour de Tuscon, it is necessary that each rider completed the selected number of minutes in a single 'sitting' all at one time. The your 'sitting' should be done between November 11-18.  It is not necessary for each rider on our team to ride at the same location or the same time. (See Fundraising letter for more details.)

  • The Fundraising Letter (see files list) has all the information you need to know about how to process donations.  Try to raise money from non-Rotarians as well as Rotarians.  You will also see a list of general fundraising ideas that can be used throughout the year.

  • For updated information about polio and additional handouts and information, see http://www.endpolio.org/take-action.  If you have anyone in your club or community that will be covering your participation in this event and want additional information, do not hesitate to contact me.

DATES AGAIN ARE: November 11 to 18, 2017!

Wait -- I just want the shirt!

If you want the shirt that you see in the picture, you can get yours here: http://ridetoendpolio.org/clothing/
Yes, it does say District 5500 - that's the Tuscon Club that sponsors the live ride.  Please read the information carefully on sizing:  it is accurate - I'd tell you my size but that's TMI.  But it's larger that I would normally order.
