Seventy degrees in February??  In the mid-west??  Makes you want to reach for a tall glass of cool water.  Aren’t we lucky that all we have to do is turn on the tap to quench our thirst!

March is Clean Water and Sanitation Month for Rotary Clubs! Rotary International recognizes the critical importance of clean water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) for a healthy environment and a productive life. When communities have access to clean water and proper sanitation facilities, several positive outcomes occur:
  1. Reduced Waterborne Diseases: Access to clean water helps decrease waterborne diseases, improving overall health.
  2. Healthier Children: Proper sanitation and hygiene lead to healthier children who can attend school more regularly.
  3. Empowered Mothers: With access to clean water, mothers can spend less time carrying water and more time supporting their families.
Rotary’s people of action mobilize resources, form partnerships, and invest in infrastructure and training to create lasting change through WASH programs.

Access to clean water is so important, the UN’s theme for this year is “Water for Peace”, focusing on the critical role water plays in the stability and prosperity of the world. Every year, World Water Day (March 22nd) raises awareness and inspires action to tackle the water and sanitation crisis. It is a United Nations observance - how will your Club celebrate World Water Day?
