I have now been to a number of club meetings and have been roundly heartened by the good people therein!  My overriding feelings are of awe at the amazing people I have met.  It has been a pleasure to interact with Rotarians in our district regarding our common agenda of making a safer, healthier, more secure, fulfilling existence for people.

The campaign is based on research that revealed that while many people have heard of Rotary, few actually understand what Rotary clubs do. Per capita giving to the Annual Program fund for The Rotary Foundation calculated district-wide was over $100 for the first time. We recognize these clubs with $100 or more in per capita giving:

Every club in Rotary District 5650 has made a difference in the world. We celebrated those accomplishments and presented some awards August 12, 2017. Clubs were recognized for projects, profile points (Top 10 Clubs) and giving to The Rotary Foundation. Individuals were also recognized for improving lives through Rotary.

Rotary unveiled a new logo a few years ago along with guidelines for applying the Rotary Brand (click here for an overview). Applying a consistent Rotary look and voice in all of our communications is vital to strengthening our image and enhancing our reputation.

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation have pledged more matching funds to Rotary International for polio eradication. District 5650 Polio Plus Chair Gretchen Bren wants us to be aware of the Countdown to History campaign as we work on the final phases of polio eradication - to zero cases. Thank you to the Clubs in District 5650 for paying the semi-annual billings promptly. There are 39 clubs that have already paid the current semi-annual invoices to Rotary International.

 

The Rotary District 5650 Awards Committee is responsible for ensuring that we recognize Rotary Clubs, Members and the Public for their work. At this time (due by September 15) we are requesting nominations for the following:

Clubs in Rotary District 5650 are asked to share information about events. Event information can be posted to the District Calendar and the District Website. 

The Presidential Citation helps ensure that clubs are strong in several core areas.  It looks to be very achievable for all clubs in our district.

This is the 3^rd edition of the Rotary District 5650 Newsletter.  It is something many people have asked for.  The goal is to share information pertinent to the district on a regular basis to keep everyone in the loop regarding significant activities and projects within our district, zone and Rotary International.  We have many people in the district doing good work helping people and communities thrive.
