The purpose of Operation Hippocrates is to help children in Belize who have chronic heart conditions that require medical intervention. The Rotary Club of Omaha, Children's Hospital of Omaha, and The Rotary Club of Belize, work together to send a team of staff from Children's Hospital to Belize once per year to evaluate children, perform minor procedures, and determine which children should travel to the United States for further care. The Rotary Club of Omaha helps pay for the children and their guardians to travel to Omaha, and the staff at Children's Hospital donates their time and facilities for the procedures. Members of the Operation Hippocrates committee provide transportation and other support to the families while in Omaha.
