We start with two pre-conference events:
World-renowned cellist Yo Yo Ma will perform at the Lied Center for Performing Arts on Thursday evening, March 30.  There is a special Rotary discount rate on the District website.  A reception will follow afterward for attendees.

Friday night is the rockin’ Rotary’s Got Talent polio fundraiser and social at our conference site, Nebraska Innovation Campus with our conference hotel, The Scarlet, across the street.  Rotarian musicians from all over the District will be playing in two bands.  Don’t miss this evening of fun, fellowship and philanthropy!

District Conference starts on Saturday, April 1.
We will welcome a very special guest Sylvia Whitlock, the first woman in Rotary.  This was not an easy road for her or her Rotary club.  It took 11 years for the legal case to work through the system and was finally decided at the US Supreme Court.  You will not want to miss her story.  Thank you all for attending and helping to welcome her to our amazing  District.  I know you will join me in thanking her for her dedication and leadership.

Sylvia will be joined by other terrific presenters including UNL Chancellor Ronnie Green, our Rotary Youth Exchange students and ambassadorial scholars; Dr. Brady Beecham, past ambassadorial scholar;  UNMC Chancellor Jeffrey Gold; Nebraska Economic Development Director Tony Goins; President Buffet Early Childhood Fund Jessie Rasmussen; Nebraska Adjutant General Daryl Bohac and more to be announced in the near future.

In addition, we have our wonderful club displays and auction items from each of the clubs to support The Rotary Foundation.  Remember donations will be matched.  The finale will be the Golden Wheel Dinner honoring community leaders from all 39 clubs with the new Golden Wheel Award.  The prestigious Cadwallader award will be the capstone presentation.

I am very excited about the plans our wonderful Conference committee is planning, and I thank them for their leadership and hard work.  Please get registered and promote the Conference to our membership.  Let’s break all the records…just imagine!
