Official Business!

Okay, I need to conduct some official Rotary business here. No time for my typical sentimental and goofy orations! (yeah, right!)
District Annual Meeting
May 12, 2022 7pm-8pm on Zoom

This is a meeting that requires each club to select delegates (number of delegates is based on club size) to be the official votes for their club. The agenda for this meeting includes: confirmation of the District Governor Elect, affirmation of the District Governor Nominee, selection of the At-Large District Board Members (one each from a small club, medium club, and large club), and approval of the 2022-23 District Budget.

Presidents will receive an email outlining the steps they need to take to get their delegates assigned and the Board approved 2022-23 District Budget to review with their club. The budget will also be posted on the District website for all Rotarians to review.

District Board of Directors
This is the group that oversees the efforts and direction of the district leadership. It consists of the following positions: Current District Governor, Immediate Past District Governor, District Governor-Elect, District Governor-Nominee, Area Governor Team Leader, District Secretary, District Treasurer, District Foundation Chair, (2) At-Large Past District Governors, At-Large Director for Large Club (greater than 76 members), At-Large Director for Medium Clubs (26-76 members), and At-Large Director for Small Clubs (up to 25 members).

To be eligible for the At-Large Director representing your club size, the member must be a past club president in good standing. (no sitting allowed!

Presidents will receive an email outlining how to nominate a member to the District Board. But start thinking and asking!! We really are a fun bunch of folks, and it is only a couple meetings a year. Excellent resume booster!

Quick note to the Presidents…I will make this all-in-one email so you have the “to do’s” in one place! I got your back; I know how this goes! 🤗

Okay, obviously I can’t stand to just be all official! So here’s some really super fun stuff (the previous stuff was just regular fun stuff)!
  1. The plans for the District Conference (I know you already have July 7-9 on your calendar, so I don’t need to tell you the dates!) are well under way and I am tickled all kinds of rainbow colors as to how much fun this is going to be. We have a theme and a music line-up (there will be dancing), we have a special Rotary guest, we have the best emcee ever, we have a fantastic service project (and we get to eat), there will be the Rotary band, and sooo much more! And we are in a couple of very impressive locations in Council Bluffs—Full Fledged Brewery and the Hoff Arts and Culture Center. Oh, and did I mention we will have amazing food from the incredible chefs at the Kitchen Council. And we have a wonderful gift for all attendees. STAY TUNED!

  2. Rotary International Convention in Houston, TX. June 4-8, 2022. If you haven’t signed up to go to this, you really need to consider it. International Conventions are outstanding. There really is no experience like it. Absolutely fabulous mainstage speakers. There are excellent informative and inspiring breakout sessions (yours truly is presenting one—come see me!). Fun and engaging events to participate in.

The House of Friendship is one of the best experiences I have ever had. You walk around and see all these projects, fellowships, Rotary partners, etc. But the most awesome thing is meeting fellow Rotarians from around the world, and it is so easy. People are so friendly and open to connect and learn from each other.

This truly is the easiest and least expensive International Convention ever. It is even in our same time zone! Come party with Rotary in Houston!
Okay, I better stop.

Spiral Up!
