The Holiday Season is upon us! Every year, I am caught off guard when Thanksgiving comes around and I think… How did another year go by so fast?! This year, for the first time in a while, I know exactly how that happened. TIME FLIES WHEN YOU ARE HAVING FUN!!
I am having tons of fun traveling around the District, meeting all our great Rotarians and learning about all the good we do in the world!! I have said it before and I will say it again, and again, and again, we are the Best Rotary District in the Universe and ROTARY ROCKS!!
As we celebrate the holidays this year, I would ask you to remember that December is Disease Prevention and Treatment Month. As Rotarians, we are blessed by friends and families with whom we get to share our holiday celebrations, yet many in this world can’t afford or don’t have access to basic health care.
Disease results in misery, pain, and poverty for millions of people worldwide. That’s why treating and preventing disease is so important to us. We lead efforts both large and small. We combat diseases like malaria, HIV/AIDS, Alzheimer’s, multiple sclerosis, diabetes, and polio. Prevention is important, which is why we also focus on health education and bringing people routine hearing, vision, and dental care.
Even though Thanksgiving has passed, I am so thankful that we are all part of an organization that focuses on these tough issues and finds a way to improve the lives of so many people around the world!
This is when I would normally say, “From my family to yours”, yet I feel like we are all one big family! So, I will simply say I love you all and wish you all a very happy Holiday Season!
Yours in Rotary, Kathryn
