With deep sorrow and profound gratitude, we share the news of the passing of our beloved founder, Razia Jan. Razia's Ray of Hope Website - click here.
Rotary District 5650 and many of our individual Members worked with Razia through Global programs and as a participant in our District Conference.
Continuing the Email that we received on Razia's passing:
Razia was a visionary, a humanitarian, and a fierce advocate for girls’ education in Afghanistan. Her tireless work changed countless lives, building bridges of compassion and hope across continents, through her steadfast commitment to educating Afghan girls. Through Razia’s Ray of Hope, she created a safe, nurturing school for Afghan girls to learn, dream, and lead — and inspired a global community to believe in the power of education to transform the world.
Razia’s passing is an immense loss, but her legacy is enduring. She devoted her life to building something larger than herself: an organization rooted in local leadership, sustainable support, and long-term vision. Thanks to her foresight, Razia’s Ray of Hope remains strong, stable, and secure, guided by the values she lived every day.
Her family and loved ones in both the U.S. and Afghanistan will continue to support her mission. The dedicated team she mentored will lead her work with unwavering commitment.
In the coming days, we will share more about Razia’s extraordinary life and the many ways you can join us in honoring her legacy. We invite you to share your memories, stories, and reflections through our Memory Wall and to consider making a gift to the Razia Jan Legacy Fund.
Razia taught us to lead with courage and compassion. Today, we carry that lesson forward — with full hearts and renewed purpose.
