Are you looking to take your leadership skills to the next level? I am asking you to consider taking on the role of leading the 37 clubs in our Rotary district. In order to become a District Governor, you only need to meet a few pre-qualification requirements:

Requirements:
  • Be a current member of our district in good standing
  • Be a past-president of you Rotary club
  • Have been a Rotarian for 7 years
That is it. The application must be submitted by the Rotarian's club. No self nominations will be accepted. I would encourage every member with these qualifications to consider this position. It is a four year commitment that is filled with opportunities to grow in Rotary and as a leader.

The four years pass by very quickly as you have the opportunity to attend training sessions at our Zone Institute each year leading up to the year you serve as District Governor. Once elected, you will be announced as the District Governor Nominee. You will attend the Zone Institute in the fall where you will meet and train with your DG classmates from our zone who will serve alongside you during your term. The following year, you will attend as the District Governor-Elect with your classmates. Then your training will culminate when you are invited to attend the International Assembly in Orlando where you will meet the over 500 District Governors from all over the world and the Rotary International President-Elect who will serve during your year. You will also represent our district at the International Convention prior to your term.

The most rewarding parts of attending the Zone Institute are the connections you will make and the leadership skills that you will bring back to our district and to your club. All training is facilitated by Past District Governors who have served their districts and bring a wealth of knowledge and experience with them.

In addition, you do not lead alone. Our district is led by a team that we call the DG String. You will have the DGN, DGE, DG and the Immediate Past DG to help set and achieve goals to elevate our clubs and provide the best Rotary experience for our members.

You can learn more about the role at the Rotary Learning Center. Feel free to take the online classes that are available to familiarize yourself with the role at https://my.rotary.org/en/knowledge-and-resources/resources-and-reference/resources-by-role/governor
