We periodically hear about events that may be of interest to Rotarians that are not coordinated by our District or a Club in our District. These could be from anywhere in the world. We will share their invitations and ideas here. Stories without specific dates are listed at the end of the article.

Gerald D. “Jerry” Meyer, Colonel (retired), NENG Historian Tour Host
Partial description:
Come join us on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to France to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the liberation of France. The focus will be on the role of the Nebraska National Guards’ famed 134th Infantry Regiment and its liberation of the country during the war.
The trip will start off in Normandy along the beaches of D-Day, and you will learn about how a Columbus, Nebraska native and soldier revolutionized amphibious warfare. The highlight of this area will be the liberation ceremonies in St. Lo and the touring of the hedgerow sites (Hill 122).

Hosted by Rotarians:
July 18, 2024 - Thursday Hedgerow Tour - Hill 122 - St. Lo Celebration Day.
Breakfast at our hotel. We head out for a very emotional experience: Hill 122 and a special Hedgerow Tour. Then, continue to St. Lo to spend the day with the liberation ceremonies in the city. Lunch is served in the company of our St. Lo Rotary Club friends, yet another emotional touch of the day. There will be plenty of time to reflect on history today! We will return to Caen in the early evening.

Share Rotary Ideals With Children In Your Community
In today’s world, the tenets of The Four-Way Test and the idea of Service Above Self are more important than ever. The Rotary Ideals Literacy Project could be your club’s literacy project and help you share these ideals with the children in your community.

ShelterBox USA
Everyone deserves a place to call home. It is a human right and the first step towards recovery after disaster. Shelter is so much more than just a roof. It’s the foundation for life, families and communities. It is a place to feel safe after days or weeks of fear. It offers protection from harsh weather, privacy, and helps to preserve dignity. It’s a space to heal from trauma.

Current need: ShelterBox is deploying an emergency response team to Pakistan where more than 30 million people have been affected by severe floods. Pakistan has been overwhelmed by severe monsoon rains and flooding; the full scale of the devastation is still unknown.
We are calling upon our Rotary partners for financial support. The need is massive, and our response is critical. Homes have sunk in flood water or been swept away, livelihoods have been ruined, tens of millions are displaced, and more than 1,000 people have lost their lives.
