On April 6th, the Western Douglas County Rotary Club held their annual Scholarship Awards Luncheon during the club’s regularly scheduled meeting at the Elkhorn Public Schools Foundation Community Room Alumni Center. The scholarship winners, their parents, counselors and school administrators were special guests of the club.
Scholarship recipients this year were seniors Lenore Hoeft of DC West, Jaiden Mencke of Elkhorn North, Mallorie Ough of Elkhorn High, and Jasmine Moats of Elkhorn South. Each graduating senior will receive a $1,500 college scholarship.
 
Jim Knott, Principal of DC West High School was the guest speaker, sharing words of inspiration to the group and how one can use the mind-set of an underdog to overcome obstacles and achieve great success.
 
Locally, the Western Douglas County Rotary Club supports the DC West Food Pantry, COPE (Christian Outreach Program of Elkhorn), The Salvation Army, and also raises funds to help with other community projects in the area.
 
Over the past 30 years, the Western Douglas County Rotary Club has awarded over $127,000 to area students. The club primarily funds its scholarship through an annual golf outing. The event this year will held on Monday, July 17th at The Pines County Club. Teams and sponsorships are still available.  See the registration attached for information.
