DG String (not a bathing suit)
You might know that I was one of the early beneficiaries of the DG String concept. That concept was started by Jim Griesen. Brian Moon followed Jim, Rod Bates followed Brian. Gary Bren followed Rod and I am now assuming the reigns from Gary.
In view of the “string theory” concept we meet on line once a month to catch up on what each of us is doing and talk about upcoming events or problems when they arise. Of course an eventual district governor starts out as a DGN (nominee) and then evolves to a DGE (Elect) and then assumes full leadership as the DG in the 3rd year. Following that s/he is involved as the immediate PDG. Through the extended training process one learns a lot. Not just from peers in the string but from other critical district leaders (Treasurer, Grants management chair, VTT chair, YE Chair, RYLA, Publicity, and on and on). I am thankful to have this support. I do not think it makes the job (of Governor) much easier but it makes it manageable and fun. I would be remiss if I did not mentioned the trainers. This group works tirelessly to help the DGE (me this year until July 1) implement three large trainings each spring (PETS, District Team Training, and District Assembly).
