Stories of Interest to Rotarians
A variety of awards are available to recognize the work of Rotarians, Rotary Clubs, and our Partners in Service.

Some awards are designed by Rotary International while others are products of Rotary District 5650. Nominations for awards are submitted through the District 5650 Awards Chair at awards@rotarydistrict5650.org unless otherwise noted. Most of the awards are presented at the District Conference. Watch your emails and the District Newsletter as we solicit for nominations.

The Awards program of Rotary International is undergoing major revision. Changes will be noted on the Rotary District 5650 website Awards page (click here) as the information is available.
Rotary District Governor Tom Cardwell is writing monthly District 5650 Newsletters distributed to District and Club Leadership. You are encouraged to share the newsletter with your Rotary Club Members and others who may benefit from the information.

As the newly installed 2017-18 district governor I want to share our district goals with you.  These are based on the Rotary International Goals set forth by President Ian H.S. Riseley of Australia.   By the way he seems to be a pretty cool guy.  He likes upbeat music, obviously with a taste for Australian artists.  AC/DC, Little River Band, Men at Work, Keith Urban, Rick Springfield, Air Supply, the Bee Gees, etc.  I enjoyed that part a lot at the International Assembly in San Diego last January.

U.S. Rotary Club and District Liability Insurance Program (Program) – Insurance Update to Rotary Clubs was sent to all U.S. Rotary Clubs from Rotary International on 3-28-17.
Rotary International (RI) has instituted this communication policy:  in most cases “whenever RI sends something to one officer, it will go to all officers”.

The Officers "as identified by Rotary International" include: President, Secretary, Treasurer, Foundation Chair, Membership Chair, and Club Executive Secretary/Director (if applicable).  The members holding these positions must be identified (and authorized) by someone that is currently an officer.  It is suggested that the President or Secretary review the information at Rotary.org regularly to ensure the the members are identified for those positions.
